Who am I? Well, where do I start? I was born and raised on a small farm and ranch in Montana. Not exactly a place that one associates with fashion, much less high fashion. In fact growing up I would not have recognized any designer labels let alone pronounce them correctly. Hermes anyone? I would have had much better luck telling you all about the pickup (yes, a pickup not a truck) that I drove or the difference between Angus, Charolais, and Hereford cattle breeds. Nonetheless, I grew up loving fashion and read Seventeen, Cosmo, Vogue, Elle, etc. at every opportunity wishing that I could wear the clothes that I saw in the magazines.  Luckily for me, my mom is an amazing seamstress and introduced me to the world of sewing by enrolling me in 4-H.  It was here that I was able to re-create some of the looks that I saw in magazines and design clothes that I wanted to wear.  While in college, I was undecided about whether or not I wanted to pursue fashion or biotechnology, so I ended up taking classes for both.  In the end, I decided to go with the science major, but I still have a great LOVE for fashion.

This a blog about fashion and savvy shopping.  What I’ve done is taken outfits created by other designers and brands and recreated them using less expensive options so that everyone regardless of income can participate in fashion and the various trends that come and go and still have money left over to pay the bills.  🙂  Also, I try to use sites that have online shopping so that regardless of where you live, ie no name town in MT, you can still purchase the posted outfits.

New less expensive outfits will be created and posted each week.

Why did I decide to create this blog?  First is because I LOVE FASHION.  I find myself constantly window shopping online and drooling over the latest pair of Christian Louboutin’s.  Secondly, I have champagne taste on a beer budget.  Previously, I was a grad student cell and molecular biology, i.e. broke, and after graduating, I have moved into the lucrative career of a post-doc, i.e. still broke.  My fellow scientists will understand my sarcasm here.  With such a limited budget, I had to get creative with the clothes that I purchased.  And so, I began shopping online to find outfits that were already put together, and then tried to recreated them within my budget.  And then I thought, hey maybe other people would be interested in this too…so I started this blog.
